Welcome to "Life is GREAT on Highway 8!", sponsored by the Chisago Lakes Area Community Foundation. Each of the 5 cities along the Highway 8 Corridor in Minnesota, from Chisago City to Taylors Falls, has a large oversized, brightly-colored Adirondack-style chair. There are also 37 artistically-designed chairs outdoors at sponsor locations along the Highway 8 corridor available to buy through a silent auction. Silent auction bids will be updated periodically. The Highway 8 Chairs project is part of the Chisago Lake’s Area Community Foundation’s “Life is GREAT on Highway 8!” campaign to showcase area artists and increase local business and tourism.

This summer, residents and visitors will be encouraged to explore the area and view all of the chairs.  They can also bid on the chairs via an ongoing silent auction from July 1 -September 2 at each sponsor location, from Chisago City to Taylors Falls.

Established in 2008, the CLCF offers residents, businesses and organizations a way to make a positive impact in our community.  The foundation accepts gifts of cash, appreciated stock, real estate and other assets.  The CLACF can be included in estate planning, and is a great way to leave a legacy for general use or for something dear to your heart.

Donations and endowments are invested under the umbrella of the St. Croix Valley Community Foundation.  The interest earned on these investments is then reinvested in this community (within the boundaries of the Chisago Lakes School District), through grants to benefit the arts, parks, the environment, civic projects, education, health, music or for any current needs in our area.

The CLACF is an affiliate of the St. Croix Valley Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to building lasting resources that serve the people, communities and the environment.  The St. Croix Valley Foundation was founded in 1995, and has awarded more than $12M in grants over the years. In 2012, the St. Croix Valley Foundation reached a milestone of more than $30M in assets.  The St. Croix Valley and its eight affiliates have become a powerful philanthropic resource for the entire river valley.  Besides the Chisago Lakes area, other affiliates include the Stillwater area and Lower St. Croix River Valley area in Minnesota, and the Hudson, Amery, New Richmond, River Falls and Somerset areas in Wisconsin.

If you’re interested in leaving a legacy for our community, please consider making a tax deductible contribution, or a donation in memory of a loved one.  Send donations to CLACF, P.O. Box 449, Lindstrom, MN  55045, or speak privately with one of our Board Members.
