ARTIST:                        Anders Johnson, Lindstrom

 CHAIR NAME:          “Fly Ball”

Anders and his twin brother Hayden are 15 years old and attend North Lakes Academy, a small charter school in Forest Lake.    They enjoy doing art together, and painted the murals at the skating rink in Lindstrom.   Anders went “solo” for the Highway 8 chair, and along with a tribute to the Minnesota twins he included some foul that are very familiar to our area in the summer.  Since he was very young, Anders has had a passion for the arts, especially visual.   He always has  a notebook and pencil in hand when he’s outdoors, and can often be seen riding a bicycle around Lindstrom, stopping near a lake or bridge to sketch God’s awe-inspiring nature around him.

Anders has been experimenting with printmaking design like woodcut, linoleum, mono-printing, and dry-point etching, and now the medium of acrylic paint with this chair.  For six years Anders has entered art work in the Minnesota State Fair, and has won ribbons each year.   He feels a sense of accomplishment as he looks back and sees how he has progressed and developed his own unique style.  One of his goals is to attend 11th-12th grade at the Perpich Center for the Arts.   Anders is diligently composing an artist’s portfolio to present, and this chair project will go into his portfolio.  When he’s not drawing or painting, he likes to garden and knit (and can sometimes be found knitting very late at Lindstrom’s yarn shop on Friday nights).  Anders also studies art history, writes to pen-pals, journals, writes and reads poetry, and of course, bikes around Lindstrom to explore.
