ARTIST:              Barbara Johansen, Scandia

 CHAIR NAME:          “The Gathering” (North Shore Gulls)

Barbara works mainly in watercolor and pen and ink.  She also enjoys exploring acrylic, collage and mixed media.  Barbara has been drawing since she was a child.  She studied art in high school, at the School of Associated Arts in St. Paul and Lakewood College in White Bear Lake.  She attends workshops to learn new techniques and for the opportunity to work with other artists.

Barbara shares her knowledge and passion for creating art by teaching workshops, giving private lessons, home school and Chisago Lakes community education classes.  Barbara’s work has been exhibited at colleges, hospitals, theaters and galleries.  Her works are available at local art fairs, the Gammelgarden in Scandia, Hosanna Lutheran Church in Forest Lake, The Art Preserve and Studio in Woodbury and Gustaf’s Galleries in Lindstrom.  Much of Barbara’s work reflects her love of Minnesota and the St. Croix River Valley.  She has donated artwork to the Festival Theatre, Relay for Life, the Chisago Lakes Area Community Foundation’s Art Dash and other non-profits.
