ARTIST:                     Barbara Young, Taylors Falls

 CHAIR NAME:          “Devil’s Chair”

Barbara finds that everywhere she looks there is a picture to paint.  The colors of rivers, flowers and leaves against the shape of majestic white pines, age-old rocks and historic homes give her an infinite number of subjects.  Each painting is a “thank you” to God for His marvelous creation.

Oil painting has been a life-long interest and pursuit.  Barbara attended art classes at Walker Art Center in the 1960s and showed at the Uptown Art Fair.   In the mid 1980s she studied with Mary Pettis learning the Classical style of painting.  A Still Life painting was accepted for the 1995 Minnesota State Fair Fine Arts Exhibit and First and Second Ribbons have been awarded thirteen different paintings at various Regional Art Shows.  In 2006 and 2007, Barbara traveled with Mary Pettis to paint the landscape in Tuscany and in 2008 they painted in Venice.  In addition to Plein Air, Barbara paints portraits, still life and studio paintings.  She has lived in Taylors Falls for 41 years.  Her paintings are for sale at Grecco’s in St. Croix Falls.
